Obituary for Robert Lee Baur

Robert L. “Bob” Baur passed away late Sunday afternoon, March 23, 2014, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. Bob, a lifetime resident of East Liverpool, was 88 had been in failing health for the last several years.

He was born in East Liverpool on August 6, 1925, a son of the late Robert M. and Fennie Koenig Baur.

A graduate of East Liverpool High School, Bob served as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate during World War II in the U.S. Navy from 1943-46. During that time, he was a member of the Naval base basketball team and was instrumental in winning several major tournaments.

For many years, he was associated with the East Liverpool Branch of the U.S. Post Office for over 30 years, retiring as a mail carrier.

A year-round sports enthusiast, he had played YMCA basketball for many years, especially during the years when the area hosted city-wide tournaments. A lifelong golfer, he also enjoyed bowling and loved following the Pittsburgh Steelers and any sporting activities involving his grandchildren.

Surviving him at home is his wife, Julienna Corradi Baur, whom he married October 7, 1950.

He also leaves behind his daughters, Lisa Muscari and her husband, Tim, of East Liverpool and Diana Ceneviva and her husband, Pete, of Newark, OH. There are four grandchildren: Nicholas and Dominic Muscari, and Connor and Taylor Ceneviva.

Bob was preceded in death in 2007 by a sister, Patricia Rayburn.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Tuesday (today), where the family will be present from 4 to 7 p.m.
