Obituary for Joyce K. Swogger (Kreisel)

Joyce K. Swogger, 86, of Lang St., in East Liverpool, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014 at The Stone Pear Pavilion in Chester, WV.

She was a daughter of the late William C. and Frances Hemmeger Kreisel, was born in Kingston, Ohio on June 10, 1927 and came to East Liverpool in 1946. Joyce attended the 1st Church of the Nazarene for many years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was also active with her daughters in Brownies, Girl Scouts and was a leader in the Campfire Girls.

Her memberships include serving two years as president of The League of Women Voters, serving on the East Liverpool Community Improvement Corporation, the East Liverpool Planning Commission and the Housing Board.

Joyce had worked for the East Liverpool school system for nine years as a teacher’s aide, and was an agent of the Bruce Herron Real Estate Agency from 1980 to 1984. She started her own business, “Temporaries Unlimited” in 1987 and sold it in 1996. She then became director of the Shining Reflections Programs until she retired in May of 2002 to spend time with her family.

Surviving are her three daughters, Cindy Waggle, and her husband David, of East Liverpool, Sandy Long, and her husband David, of Wellsville and Jayne Loveland, of Washington, PA., as well as a son, Robert E. Swogger, and his wife Joyce, of Wellsville.

She will be sadly missed by her loving grandchildren, Missy Loveland, Chris Loveland and David Long; great-grandchildren Cameron Loveland, Caden Loveland, Noah Long and Maggie Long. In addition she leaves four grandchildren, Eddie Swogger, Susan Bauer, Bobby Swogger and Christina Cook; six great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Joyce is also survived by a sister Patricia Wood, of Groveland, Florida, and a brother Charles Kreisel of Chillicothe, OH.

In addition to her parents Joyce was preceded by her husband, Ross E. Swogger, whom she married on July 3, 1948, a sister, Clara Jane Kreisel, and a brother William E. Kreisel.

Friends may visit Sunday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 7 p.m. Pastor Donna Todd of the New Lebanon Presbyterian Church will conduct a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park. Family and friends will then gather at the Dawson Family Center for a time of fellowship.
