Condolence: Mrs. Tubbs (Mary),
I just found out about Dr. Tubbs' passing in the recent ALUMNI CONNECTION. Please accept my deepest sympathies. I studied under him for 2 years as an intern/resident in the 80's. What I will remember most about him was his fantastic and deep knowledge base that was paired with his "get out of work on time" attitude. . . many times with his son "in tow" waiting in his office and accompanying him on his way out. He put his work in (great and groundbreaking and, it seems to him, very enjoyable work) but his life was for AND ABOUT much more. By just that, we (residents) were able to see what mattered in his life and to take a piece of teaching for our own professional lives. His role as pathologist was put into perspective with his role as father/family man. Something I remember to this day.

Warmly,

C. J. Julius

Condolence: Dear Mary

I was a colleague of Ray while at the Clinic, and I just found out about his passing. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. Ray was a devoted scientist and instrumental in the successful expansion of his department to become nationally ranked while under his charge. His work benefited many. He will be missed by me, his colleagues, and the patients he benefited.

Condolence: I am very sorry to hear of Dr. Tubbs' recent passing. His absence will be sorely missed, and his passing leaves a great legacy in pathology and molecular medicine. I had the privilege of meeting him once, and being able to tell him his books had both kept me awake at night (reading them) and letting me sleep at night (knowing I had made the right patient care choice). My condolences to his family, friends, and all associates.

Condolence: I am very sorry to hear of Dr. Tubbs passing. He was an inspiration for many young medical students seeking careers in Pathology. He gave me some wise advice 25 years ago when i was completing my Pathology residency and looking for a job in the field. He will be missed.
