Obituary for Larry Lee Davis

Larry L. Davis, 67, of East Liverpool, passed away at 7:59 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2014 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Larry had just spent Thursday evening with his wife, Linda, at an auction when he suddenly became ill.

He was born on September 22, 1946 in Racine, Ohio, a son of the late Charles R. Davis, Jr. and Anna Mae Congo Davis of East Liverpool. He came to this area as a young boy and remained here the rest of his life.

A 1967 graduate of East Liverpool High School, he was widely recognized as a familiar face at East Liverpool City Hospital, where he had worked in the housekeeping department for over 40 years. In 2005 following his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and gardening, spending time with his dog, Harley, and searching for treasures at area flea markets and auctions. But above all, he was a devoted husband, dad and “Pap Pap”.

Surviving him at home is his wife, Linda (Paynter) Davis, whom he married on December 16, 1966.

Also surviving is a daughter, Lynette “Sket” Bowers of East Liverpool, as well as a son, Lonnie “D” Davis and his wife, Genau, also of East Liverpool. Larry also leaves behind three beloved grandchildren, Dylan Davis, Caitlyn Davis and Luke Bowers, all of East Liverpool.

Two sisters, Judy Manning of Cape Coral, FL, and Lynn Mackey of East Liverpool also survive along with a sister-in-law, Patty Davis, also of East Liverpool. There are numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Larry was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Eugene “Junior” Davis.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Sunday, where the family will be present from 2 to 6 p.m.

Larry’s friend and former associate, Pastor Tom Adkins of Campground Community Church, will conduct services at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Monday. Burial will take place at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens.
