Obituary for Arthur D. Mabbott Jr.

Arthur D. Mabbott, Jr., of Andrews Place, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Life Line Hospital in Wintersville. He was 85.

Born in Hilliards, Pennsylvania, July 22, 1928, he was a son of the late Arthur D. Mabbott, Sr. and Elizabeth Hovis Mabbott. A resident of this area since 1967, he served with the U.S. Army in Korea. A graduate of Penn State University, he worked for Airco Industrial Gases until retiring in 1985 as the superintendent of distribution.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Theresa Korherr Mabbott, in 1974. He then married Phyllis Kathryn Needs Mabbott on October 11, 1977 until preceding him in death on February 28, 2008. He was also preceded in death by a son, Eric Mabbott, on September 4, 1980, as well as a sister, Grace Buck, and a brother, Leslie Mabbott.

Surviving are a daughter, Helen Martin and her husband, Jeff, of East Liverpool, and a son, Steve Mabbott and his wife, Amy, of East Liverpool. There are five grandchildren: Josh Martin and his wife, Marissa; Eric Martin and his wife, Ashley; Nathan Martin and his fiancée, Mindy Reynolds; Ben Mabbott and Elizabeth Mabbott. There are four great-grandchildren: Faith, Kendall, Kash and Royce. A fifth great-grandchild is expected in November.

A brother survives as well, Kenneth Mabbott, and his wife Judy, of Texas.

Friends may visit Monday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Evangelist Will Montgomery will conduct a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
