Obituary for George W. Woolmaker

George W. Woolmaker, 76, of Cannons Mill Road, East Liverpool, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014 at his daughter’s residence in Virginia, following a lengthy illness.

He was born in East Liverpool, January 9, 1938, a son of the late George M. and Laverna Shenton Woolmaker.

A graduate of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1956, George predominately worked for the Weirton Steel Company as a crane operator and later as a truck driver until his retirement. At one time, he was a member of the Tri-State Beagle Club, the Glenmoor Volunteer Fire Department and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Surviving is a daughter, Patricia K. Beaver and her husband, Jack, of Disputanta, Virginia, and his two sons, Gary and John Woolmaker, both of East Liverpool. There are eight grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

There are two sisters, Jane Abbenda and her husband, Joe, of Glen Cove, New York, and Linda Brenneman of New Garden, Ohio, as well as a brother, Harry Woolmaker of Glenmoor.

His wife, Dorothy “Elaine” Woolmaker, whom he married on November 23, 1959, preceded him in death in 2010. He was also preceded in death by a sister Jean Ann Boso and a brother John Woolmaker.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Wednesday evening where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. The Rev. Eric M. Edwards of St. John Lutheran Church will conduct a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Calcutta Cemetery.
