Obituary for Steve J. Jasenec


EAST LIVERPOOL – Steve J. Jasenec, 85, passed away peacefully at his home on Kinsey Avenue in East Liverpool on Sunday morning, July 20, 2014.

Born on December 14, 1928 in Toronto, Ohio, he was a son of the late Louis and Anna Danish Jasenec.

He was preceded in death on September 8, 2010 by his wife, Klementine “Tina” Jasenec, and also by his son, Michael Jasenec, who passed away just last week. Three brothers have also preceded him in death, John, Rudy and Joseph Jasenec.

He was a Korean War veteran, serving with the U.S. Army in Korea. For over 32 years, he was associated with Crucible Steel Corporation, retiring in 1982, and in his spare time, he loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He and his family had been longtime members of St. Aloysius Church, Holy Trinity Parish, and Steve also belonged to the American Legion Post # 374 and VFW Post # 66.

Surviving him are his daughter and two sons: Marie Ward and her companion Rick Ware, of Poland, Victor Jasenec of Lake Tomahawk, and his fiancé April Augustine of New Springfield, and her children, Frank, Don and Danielle, and grandchild Nikki; and Steven Jasenec, with whom he resided in East Liverpool. A daughter-in-law, Patricia Jasenec, also survives in East Liverpool.

There are three grandchildren: Angie Six and her husband, Ray; Ashley Jasenec and Michael Ward and his wife Donna. There are six great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Brooklyn, Caetlyn and Dillyn Six, Cole and Cora Ward, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Holy Trinity Parish. Steve will be laid to rest beside his wife at Columbiana County Memorial Park, where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will provide full military honors.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Tuesday, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
