Obituary for Anthony Paul Capraruolo

Anthony P. Capraruolo, 89, formerly of Grant Street in Newell, passed away at 9:58 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014 at East Liverpool City Hospital.

He was born on July 3, 1925, in Oakdale, PA, a son of the late John and Mary Forte Capraruolo. As a young boy, he came to the East Liverpool area with his family, and remained here for the rest of his life. He attended St. Aloysius grade school, and then went on to East Liverpool High School.

A World War II veteran, he served with the U.S. Navy then returned to the area and married his wife, the former Margaret Ann Turcowski, on August 16, 1947. She preceded him in death on August 27, 2012.

For many years, Anthony worked at Crucible Steel and later was a maintenance worker at Weirton General Hospital and also carried newspapers and drove an armored truck for some time.

He was baptized at his home church in Oakdale, PA, as a young boy, and later became a member of St. Aloysius Church, Holy Trinity Parish.

Three daughters survive: Christine M. Bell of East Liverpool, Terry Headley and her husband, Michael, of Boardman, OH, and Carla Link and her husband, Randy, of Morgantown, WV. There is one son, John Anthony Capraruolo, Sr., and his wife, Jeanne, also of East Liverpool.

Anthony was so proud of his nine grandchildren: Steve Bell, Niki Wilkinson, Melissa Clay, John A. Capraruolo, Jr., Michele Taylor, Eric Headley, Nick Headley, Dr. Jodi Lindsey and Kristen Link, as well as his 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Anthony was preceded in death by his siblings, Madeline, Samuel and Dominic Capraruolo. Two sisters also survive, Lucy Beerer of California, and Angela Johnston of Chester.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Friday, where the family will be present from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a..m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Holy Trinity Parish at 10:00 a.m. Friday, with Father Peter Haladej as the celebrant. Anthony will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at Columbiana County Memorial Park Cemetery, where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will provide full military honors.
