Obituary for Antonina Maria "Antonette" Fricano Buckley

Antonina Maria “Antonette” Fricano Buckley went to be with her Lord at 11:30 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Antonette, who was 83, had been a patient at Heritage Valley in Beaver, PA.

She was born in New York, NY on June 20, 1931, a daughter of the late Salvatore and Antonina Scafide Fricano.

Antonette lived the majority of her life in East Liverpool, and was a 1949 graduate of East Liverpool High School and the Ohio Valley Business College. She married her husband, James Robert “Bob” Buckley, on September 5, 1951, and for several years they owned and operated Fricano’s Market, a family business which was started by her father.

An active member of the First Free Methodist Church, she served on several different committees throughout the years. She was an avid gardener and also a member of a card club for more than 50 years with a group of women she dearly loved.

She will be deeply missed by Bob, her devoted husband of 62 years, and by her children: Debra Wolfe and her husband, Daniel; and James Buckley and his wife, Kristine, all of East Liverpool.

Antonette will also be missed by her sister, Marie Fricano Dippolito and her husband, Fiore, of Warren, and their family, along with her brother, Alfred Fricano and his wife, Mary, of East Liverpool, and their family. Antonette loved them all, but especially her grandchildren: Anna Wolfe Schwab and her husband, Michael; James Buckley II; Joel Wolfe and his wife, Jenelle; Jessica Buckley Rodriguez and her husband, Victor; Sarah Wolfe Carr and her husband, Shane; and Allison Wolfe Stansbury and her husband, Edward, along with ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Antonette was preceded in death by an older brother, who died in childhood.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Thursday, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be held at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, with Rev. Steve Forsyth of the church officiating. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery.

Those wishing to do so may make contributions in Antonette’s name to Good Samaritan Hospice of Heritage Valley Beaver, 3500 Brooktree Road, Suite 320, Wexford, PA 15090.
