Obituary for Betty J. Balmenti (Kelly)

Betty J. Balmenti, of Cherry Lane, Calcutta, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014 while surrounded by her loving family at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. She was 80.

She was born in Monongahela, Pennsylvania, February 18, 1934, her father, Raymond Kelly passed away when Betty was young and she was raised by her mother and step-father, Peter and Dorothy Palmer Rapp.

A faithful member of Holy Trinity Parish, she retired from the former TK Roofing where she worked as a secretary.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities and spending time with family and friends. Through all her years of cleaning, she has made countless friends who always made her feel like family.

Her husband, Samuel W. Balmenti, survives at home. The couple married May 1, 1965.

She also leaves behind two daughters, Marie Gatchel, and her husband Alan, of Salem, and Kelly Grafton, and her husband Sam, of Steubenville, along with two sons, Philip Balmenti, and his wife Jayne, of Rogers, and John Balmenti, and his wife Chris, of Negley. There are 9 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Other survivors include two sisters and four brothers.

Friends may visit Monday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Fr. Peter Haladej will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius Church.

Burial will follow at Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Following the cemetery, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
