Obituary for Anna Jane Bowersock (Easterday)

A. Jane Bowersock, 70, passed away suddenly at her home on Martha Street in East Liverpool on Thursday, October 30, 2014. Jane, who had battled with illness over the years, died peacefully at 9:51 a.m.

She was born at home in Shippingport, PA, on November 19, 1943, one of ten children of Walter and Hester Olive Kitson Easterday. Jane attended South Side High School and later received her diploma while working in laundry and housekeeping at the former Mary Patterson home in downtown East Liverpool.

On October 9, 1964, she married William Bernard Bowersock; they spent two years in Florida during his time in the service before returning to this area to live. He preceded her in death in 1992.

For over 35 years, Jane was a cook at East Liverpool City Schools, and had also waitressed at Big Boy and Bob Evans for years. Those who knew her best would say she loved playing Bingo, reading romance novels, playing cards and dominoes, watching John Wayne movies – and cooking and caring for her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Green, with whom she resided, along with three grandchildren: Kortnie Bowersock, Megan Bowersock, and Brandon Green, all of East Liverpool. Jane also leaves behind the “apple of her eye” – her great-granddaughter, Alexis Marie Kasunich.

Additional survivors include her sisters and brothers: Lena “Sis” Bennett and her husband, Chuck; Jackie Juth; Edith “Edie” Lloyd and her husband, Fred; Betty Lou Sherin and her husband, Skip; Georgia Krosky and her husband, Mike; Jesse Easterday and his wife, Sharon; Terry Easterday and his wife, Doris, and many nieces and nephews.

Also surviving is her mother-in-law, Marthalee Phillips, her brother-in-law, Randy Bowersock, and her former son-in-law, Rick Green.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Jane was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter John “Sonny” Easterday and Larry Day.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Monday, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, with Pastor Rhonda Guy officiating. Burial will take place at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
