Obituary for Hazel I. Chipps (Tice)

Hazel I. Chipps, 68, passed away in her sleep at her residence on Moore Street, East Liverpool, early Saturday morning, February 28, 2015.

She was born in East Liverpool on January 17, 1947, a daughter of the late James D. and Elsie Wilma Whitney Tice.

A homemaker, Hazel loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially when it included breakfast! Always up for a good game of BINGO, she appreciated “good old country” and gospel music. She especially enjoyed gathering at King’s Creek, where she made many memories listening to music with dear friends.

Hazel faithfully attended Campground Community Church.

She was preceded in death on June 30, 1981 by her first husband, Harold L. Wilson, and by her second husband, James B. Chipps, who died in March, 1993.

Surviving are two daughters and two sons: Julie Beaver and her husband, Jim; Lisa Quarterman and her husband, David; Harold “Joe” Wilson; and Daniel Wilson and his wife, Charlene, all of East Liverpool.

There are twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Wilma Wells, also survives, as well as a brother, David Tice and his wife, Ila, along with a brother-in-law, Ed Ankrom. She was preceded in death by her brother, James W. Tice, and by her sister, Evelyn Ankrom.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Tuesday, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Rev. Tom Adkins of the church will officiate at a service to be held at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
