Obituary for Ravanna Bell

WELLSVILLE – Mr. Ravanna Bell, Sr., of Wellsville, passed away at Thursday morning, March 5, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, at the age of 74. Born on May 5, 1940 in East Liverpool, he was one of twelve children of Les and Mattie Hammond Coleman Bell.

Ravanna was raised and educated in East Liverpool where he was a member of the East Liverpool High School football team. He was retired from the Chrysler Corporation in Detroit, Michigan after 30 years of service.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and enjoyed fishing and cooking.

His wife, JoAnn Brooks Bell, whom he married on October 6, 1970, survives him at home.

Also surviving are his children: Kathleen Bell of Atlanta, Georgia; Catrina Neal of Canton; Janet Bell of Wellsville; Ravanna Bell, Jr., of Atlanta, Georgia; and Ravanna H. Bell of Wellsville.

Additional survivors include two sisters, Amy “Dolly” Jones of Buffalo, New York and Jeannette Bell of East Liverpool, along with two brothers, Thom Bell of Kent, Ohio; and Jerry Bell and his wife, Brenda, of Southfield, Michigan.

In addition to his parents, Ravanna was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers: Janet Bell, Edna Browne, Charlie Bell, John Bell, Ernest Bell, Gene Bell and Joseph Bell.

There are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.

Ravanna will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery.
