Obituary for Ruby E. Johnson (Newlen)


East Liverpool, Ohio- Ruby E. Johnson, 92, of Boring Lane passed away Friday, March 6, 2015 at 9:20 p.m. at the Calcutta Health Care Center following a brief illness.

Born February 28, 1923 at Wellsville, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Sherman and Maude Bush Newlen.

A lifetime area resident, she was a Homemaker. A member of the United Bretheran in Christ Church since 1999, she was the church’s greeter and was also it’s welcoming committee.

Her husband, Richard R. “Bob” Johnson, whom she married August 13, 1941, preceded her in death on September 9, 1999. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia A. McCune and her husband, Ron of East Liverpool, Kathryn Shearer and her husband, John A. Jr. of Beaver Falls, PA; and one son, Robert L. Johnson and his wife, Ruthann of Pataskala, Ohio.

There are four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by 11 sisters and brothers.

Friends may visit the family at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Reverend Joe Cilone of the church will officiate a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center immediately following the service.
