Obituary for Debra K. Dorsey (Tyson)

DEBRA K. DORSEY, 58

EAST LIVERPOOL – On Monday morning, June 1, 2015, at East Liverpool City Hospital, Debra K. “Debbie” Dorsey passed from her earthly life into her eternal home, with her family nearby. Debbie, who was 58, had been ill for several years, yet throughout all of her life’s challenges her radiant smile remained.

She was a daughter of the late Abe Gibson and Bernice Moxley Tyson, born on January 3, 1957 in East Liverpool and had spent her lifetime in this area. She had been a teller at BankOne and had worked in the Wire Transfer department at Sky Bank, as well as TCI Cable.

Raised as a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Debbie was currently a member of Maranatha Chapel. Her Christian faith sustained her throughout her illness. She loved singing gospel music and baking cakes; her joys in life were many, but at the top of the list were her grandchildren.

On September 30, 2006, she married Bruce Q. Dorsey, who survives her at home.

Debbie also leaves behind her children: Kenya Tyson of Dallas, TX; Vincent Boggs and Steven Boggs, both of Wellsville; Jara Lash and her husband, Mike, of Johnstown, PA; and Jacquelyn Dorsey of Indianapolis, along with eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Two sisters, Linda Butts of Akron and Sherry Tyson of Canfield, also survive. Debbie was preceded in death by two brothers, James L. Tyson and Michael D. Tyson.

Rev. Ernest Peachey of Second Baptist Church will officiate at a service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Dawson Funeral Home, assisted by Pastor David Paulovich of Maranatha Chapel. Burial will take place at Calcutta Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
