Obituary for Thelma Mae Hamilton (Hess)

EAST LIVERPOOL – Thelma Mae Hamilton, of East Liverpool, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Cleveland Clinic. She was 90.

Born in East Liverpool, February 28, 1925, she was a daughter of the late James T. and Ida Mae Dugan Hess. She was raised at the family homestead on Hess Road in the Shadyside neighborhood. Later, she lived in Wellsville until the family moved to East Liverpool in 1958. At one time, she worked at the Mary A. Patterson Memorial Building and Homer Laughlin China Company. She was a longtime member of Trinity Presbyterian Church.

A member of the Lady Elks and the Tri-Angle Senior Citizens, she loved to dance and, along with her late husband, was a member of the Memory Lane Dance Club.

Above all things in life she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry H. “Hambone” Hamilton on January 5, 2013. The couple married May 9, 1947 and together they raised three children: two daughters Linda Roe and her husband, Roger, and Lisa Prince and her husband, Randy, all of East Liverpool; and a son, Larry Hamilton and his wife, Linda, of North Canton.

There are seven grandchildren as well: David Hamilton and his wife, Alison; Shelley Landy and her husband, Steve; Brian Hamilton and his wife, Kellie; Doug Roe; Lori Shenton and her husband, Bill; Blake Prince, and Madison Prince, along with twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a sister Pauline Boram, and four brothers, Raymond, Charles, Richard and Russell Hess.

Friends may visit Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Rev. Dr. Stephen Cramer of the church will conduct a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.

Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.
