Obituary for Charlotte Louise Kreefer (Halstead)

Charlotte Louise Kreefer passed away following a lengthy illness at 8:55 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015. Charlotte, who was 81, died at Calcutta Health Care Center, where she had resided for some time.

On April 13, 1934, she was born in Hookstown, PA, a daughter of the late John and Marie Linke Halstead.

She had worked at the former 5 & 10 Department Store in downtown East Liverpool and had also worked at Paper Products at one time. A woman of great faith, Charlotte belonged to Friendship Gospel Tabernacle.

Her husband, Rex N. Kreefer, whom she married on September 5, 1959, survives her.

Also surviving are her five daughters: Lorrie Crabtree and her husband, Gary, of East Liverpool; Karen VanDyke and her husband, Curtis, of Irondale; Cindy Holtzman-Lewis and her husband, Robert, of East Liverpool; Cheryl Green, also of East Liverpool; and Amy Lovett of Toronto.

There are eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, as well as three brothers: Arthur Halstead and his wife, Kathy, of Arizona, Karl Halstead of West Virginia, and Edmund Halstead of Ohio. Charlotte was preceded in death by two brothers, John and David Halstead, as well as a sister, Joan Allen.

Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home.

Family friend Cinda Taylor will conduct services at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow at Columbiana County Memorial Park. Family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center following the burial for a continued time of fellowship and remembrance.
