Obituary for Dorothy E. Geisse (Maple)

EAST LIVERPOOL – Dorothy E. Geisse, of East Liverpool, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Allegheny General Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was 91.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, February 2, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Hazel McCormick Maple. A resident of this area all her life, she was graduated from the East Liverpool City Hospital School of Nursing in 1945 and worked as a registered nurse for Dr. Brand and later Dr. Pugh. Protestant by faith, she was a member of the Ohio Nurses Association, American Nurses Association District 3, and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph G. Geisse, Jr. The couple married February 25, 1950.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey A. Geisse of East Liverpool, a step-son Joseph G. Geisse, III and his wife, Susan, of Chester, as well as four grandchildren: Sara Geisse, Donna Blankenship, Joseph G. Geisse, IV and Larry Headley, and several great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit Sunday evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. Evangelist Will Montgomery will conduct a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
