Obituary for Charlene J. Goddard (Stephens)

WELLSVILLE – Charlene J. Goddard, of Y&O Road, Wellsville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, July 11, 2015 at her home following complications from diabetes. She was 80.

Born in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, December 2, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Bert and Ida Whitney Stephens. A resident of this area all her life, she worked as a horse trainer at Waterford Park and later the Mountaineer Resort. A member of the Northside Community Church, she volunteered in the nursery there and would help with Vacation Bible School. She was also active in the Potters Players productions at one time.

She was married to her husband Ralph Edward Goddard, Sr. who died in 1996. She was also preceded in death by a son Ralph Edward Goddard, Jr. in 1996.

She is survived by her two sons, Mark Allen Goddard and his wife, Mary, of Chester and Roger Douglas Goddard and his wife, Yvonne, of Upper Arlington, Ohio.

There are 7 grandchildren: Marcus Goddard, Kristen Gardner, Amie Adkins, Bradley Goddard, Annabelle Goddard, Carl Cunningham and Brent Cunningham; as well as eight great-grandchildren: Aidan, Saoirse, Spencer, Brenna, Bryce, Samantha, McKenzie and Steven.

A memorial service will be conducted by Pastor Larry Rose at the Northside Community Church 11:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the church’s fellowship room.

Arrangements are by the Dawson Funeral Home.
