Obituary for Delores Irene Reynolds (Adkins)

Delores Irene Adkins Reynolds passed away with her family nearby, at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh. “Irene”, as she was known to her friends and family, had battled with ill health for several years, and now joins her husband, Darrel and other loved ones who were waiting for her in Heaven.

She was born on June 22, 1951 in Hamlin, West Virginia, a daughter of Coney Adkins of East Liverpool and the late Delores Adkins. The family had made its way to East Liverpool when Irene was a young girl, and she had graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1969. She spent most of her life in this area, with the exception of several years in Wyoming when her boys were young.

A Mormon by faith, she was a familiar face at the downtown Giant Eagle, where she had been a cashier. Throughout all of her days, her kids and grandkids were the light of her life.

She married Darrel Levan Reynolds, Sr. on July 10, 1972. He preceded her in death on May 22, 2005.

In addition to her father, she is survived by three beloved sons: Darrel L. Reynolds, Jr. of East Liverpool; Matthew D. Reynolds and his wife, Carlie, of New Cumberland; and Jason G. Reynolds and his wife, Amber, of East Liverpool. There are four grandsons: Hayden Gregory Reynolds, Nicholas James Reynolds, Keegan Matthew Reynolds and Asher Dean Reynolds.

Also surviving are two sisters, Debbie Bell and her husband, Keith, of Streetsboro, OH and Jeanette Barbuto, of Plymouth, MI, as well as a brother, Greg Adkins and his wife, Lori, of East Liverpool and numerous nieces and nephews. Irene was surrounded by loving friends whom she considered “family”, especially Kathy McKinnon, David Garver and John Barcus, among many others.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Monday, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Evangelist Will Montgomery officiating.

Irene will be laid to rest beside her husband at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
