Obituary for Helen F Hartley (Rice)

EAST LIVERPOOL – Helen F. Hartley, formerly of LaCroft, passed away Thursday morning, August 13, 2015 at Valley Oaks Care Center in East Liverpool. She was 84.

Born in Columbiana, February 17, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Carrie Duke Rice. A resident of this area all her life, she was a personal caregiver in the area for many years. A member of the Madison Trinity Church in West Point, she was also a member of the Yellow Creek Church senior group where she served as president at one time. She was also active in the Red Hat Society.

Her husband, Earl Hartley, preceded her in death on March 11, 2009. The couple married October 14, 1948.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol Junkins and her husband, John, of Lisbon, Sue Raneri and her husband, Harry, of East Liverpool; and three sons, Lee Hartley of Cleveland, John Hartley and his wife, Paulette, of Lisbon, and Bill Hartley of Woodville, Ohio.

There are 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Other survivors include a sister, Clara Bennett of Amsterdam, Ohio.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Clapper, a grandson Joey Hartley, and a sister Betty Amos.

Friends may visit Sunday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Ted Barnes on Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Lisbon Cemetery.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Madison Trinity Church in West Point for fellowship.
