Obituary for David R Tice

EAST LIVERPOOL – David R. Tice, of East Liverpool, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the St. Mary’s Alzheimer’s Center. He was 82.

Born in East Liverpool, June 28.1933, he was a son of the late Edwin and Grace Dopler Tice. A graduate of the Class of 1951 East Liverpool High School, he was a member and supporter of the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association. He attended Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius Church.

He retired as Assistant Post Master from the U.S. Postal Service in 1992 after 30 years of service. He also worked for 41 years for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Youngstown Vindicator, delivering newspapers to the Tri-State area. A tireless worker, he previously worked at the Hall China Company, Stand-Oil Gas Station, Crockery City Coca-Cola Bottling Company and drove school bus. He also built and managed residential apartments in the area.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia “Jenny” Fiorello Tice, at home. The couple married April 10, 1953. There are seven children surviving: a daughter Christine Buchheit and her husband, Bob, of Negley, and six sons, Charles “Chuck” Tice and his wife, Cathy, of Roswell, Georgia; Don Tice, also of Roswell; Daniel Tice and his wife, Kim, of Huntsville, Alabama; Michael Tice and his wife, Julie, of Wellsville; Mark Tice and his wife, Juli, of East Liverpool; and Jeffrey Tice and his wife, Natalie, of Fredericksburg, Virginia.

He is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, as well as a sister, Grace Ann Foster of East Liverpool.

On May 13, 2015 he was preceded in death by his son, David Ronald “Ron” Tice, II. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma J. Dawson and Janie McIntosh, and two brothers, Bill Tice and Don Tice.

Friends may visit Friday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Fr. Peter Haladej will conduct a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at funeral home.

Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the former St. Ann’s Church on Pennsylvania Avenue.
