Obituary for Dorothy E. Pipes (Lennens)

Dorothy E. Pipes left her earthly home early Monday morning, October 26, 2015 at the age of 72, and joined her Savior and other loved ones who were waiting for her in Heaven. Surrounded by her family at the time of her death, Dorothy passed away at Trinity West in Steubenville following a lengthy illness.

She was born on February 24, 1943 in East Liverpool, a daughter of the late Jesse Clarence and Eva Cronin Lennens, and had lived most of her life in this area. A Christian since the 1960’s, she had ministered at many churches throughout Ohio and Pennsylvania over the years – and had also ministered to countless friends and family in the way she lived her life for others.

On February 11, 1961, she married William C. “Bill” Pipes, and had become a “second mom” to many neighborhood kids whom she welcomed into her home. Bill preceded her in death on October 6, 2004.

Her own children survive: Mary Collins of East Liverpool; William C. Pipes, Jr. and his wife, Betty, of Chester; David Pipes of East Liverpool, and Daniel Pipes, also of East Liverpool.

There are six grandchildren: Amie Collins, Alicia Pipes, David Pipes and his wife, Mary Beth; Shanda Pipes, Chris Green and Shawn Green. Three great-grandchildren also survive: Leini Rain Bloor, Liam Michael Pipes and Jerrica Lee Lewis.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her siblings: Clarence Lennens, Doris Taylor, Nora Adams and Becky Drysdale.

Pastor Dirk Hall of The Living Well will conduct services at the Dawson Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Sunday. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Following the service, the family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for a continued time of fellowship.

Burial will take place at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
