Obituary for Samuel E Blazer

Lisbon Street resident Samuel E. “Pete” Blazer passed away at East Liverpool City Hospital at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015 following a brief illness. He was 80.

His wife, Judith K. “Judi” Blazer, was at his side at the time of his death, along with other close friends and his pastor.

Pete was born on March 13, 1935 in East Liverpool, a son of the late Chester B. and Bessie Gardiner Blazer. He was a member of the Class of 1953 at East Liverpool High School and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1961, as a strategic air command specialist.

Following the service, he was associated with Homer Laughlin China before relocating to Lycoming, CT, where he was an engine assembler. After 28 years in Connecticut, he returned to his hometown and remained here ever since. Pete was a lifetime member of the Raymond T. Goldback #9460 Chapter of the VFW in Stratford, CT, as well as the Elks Lodge #258 and the Orioles Chapter #772 in East Liverpool.

He and Judi were members of the First Christian Church in Wellsville.

Pete is survived at home by his wife, Judi, whom he married on May 20, 1961.

He is also survived by his sister, Laura Hargreaves of Winter Haven, FL. Additional survivors are his nieces and nephews, Brian Hart; Ron Hargreaves and his wife, Sandy; Beth Esquival and her husband, Jerry; Tara Feagle; and Kacie Hargreaves. There are also great nieces and nephews: Annaliese, Jerry, Bill, Nicole, and Alani. Pete will also be missed by special friends who were like family: Junior Hill, Mona and George Coles, Pete Blystone, Kari Knight – and best friend, his dog, Bubba.

Memorial services are being planned at the Dawson Funeral Home.
