Obituary for Coney Adkins

EAST LIVERPOOL - East Liverpool resident and Sias, W.Va. native Coney Adkins, 87, passed at Trinity Health Center in Steubenville early Tuesday morning, Nov. 17, 2015.

Born on Aug. 30, 1928, he was a son of the late Ambrose and Arabelle Galloway Adkins. He made his way to this area as a young man, where he had worked at the former Crucible Steel Co. in the boilerhouse, retiring in 1982.

He was preceded in death on June 13, 2013 by his wife, Delores L. Adkins. They were married on Jan. 6, 1951.

Coney served in the US Marine Corps Reserves and then in the US Army during the Korean War.

Surviving is a son, Greg Adkins and his wife, Lori, of East Liverpool; as well as two daughters, Marilyn Jeanette Barbuto of Plymouth, Mich., and Debbie Bell and her husband, Keith, of Kent, Ohio. There are 11 grandchildren: Darrel Reynolds, Jr.; Matthew Reynolds and his wife, Carlie; Jason Reynolds and his wife, Amber; Elizabeth Barbuto, Paul Barbuto, Mary Barbuto, Christofer Bell and his wife, Shalyn; Jaimie Bell-Thornton and her husband Doug; Benji Bell and Becca; Jordyn Adkins and Tyler Adkins; also surviving are 14 great-grandchildren: Hayden, Nicholas, Keegan, Asher, Tori, Lovie, Abby, Patience, Christofer Jr., Dylan, Cherish, Nylahs, Karson and Charlie Grace.

Preceding him in death were 16 brothers and sisters, and a son-in-law, Darrel L. Reynolds, Sr.; a daughter, Delores Irene Reynolds, passed away July 22, 2015; and a granddaughter, Katy Barbuto.

Coney will be laid to rest at Columbiana County Memorial Park. Services are being handled by the Dawson Funeral Home.
