Gary D. Jeffries, Sr., 67

EAST LIVERPOOL – Gary D. Jeffries, Sr., of East Liverpool Road, passed away Thursday evening, February 4, 2016, at his home. He was 67.

Born in East Liverpool, September 16, 1948, he was a son of the late Ross and Margaret Piatt Jeffries. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Korea. A resident of this area all his life, he was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1966 and was the first employee of the Hot Dog Shoppe.

A steelworker and locomotive operator for many years, he worked at Alleghany Ludlum in Midland until his retirement three years ago. A member Greenford Christian Church where he was an active volunteer, Gary also was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. Above everything else in life, he loved his family and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Smith Jeffries, at home. The couple married September 5, 1970. Together they raised four sons: Gary Jeffries, Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Tallmadge, Ohio, Tom Jeffries and his wife, Jenny, of Millersburg, Ohio, Dr. Bruce Jeffries and his wife, Angie, of Columbiana, and Brad Jeffries and his wife, Erin, of North Canton. There are 12 grandchildren: Benjamin, Nathan, Cassandra, Bailey, Owen, Tyler, Vivian, Camille, Logan, Regann, Brady and Trevor.

He also leaves behind three sisters: Barbara Blystone of East Liverpool, Carolyn Clark of Hammondsville, and Becky McKinnon of East Liverpool; and three brothers, Tom Jeffries, and his wife Barbara, of East Liverpool, Ross “Whitey” Jeffries, and his wife Brenda, of Naples, Florida, and John Jeffries, and his wife Kay, of East Liverpool as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Helen Linkous and a brother Richard “Bo” Jeffries.

Friends may visit Monday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. John Bush, minister of the Greenford Christian Church will conduct a funeral service Tuesday at 11:00a.m. at the funeral home.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.

Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
