Obituary for James B Adkins

James Bernard “Jim” Adkins, of East Liverpool, passed away suddenly Thursday, August 11, 2016 at his home. He was 64.

Born in East Liverpool, June 3, 1952, he was a son of the late James Ephriam Adkins and Pauline Higgins Adkins. A resident of this area all his life, he was a graduate of East Liverpool High School and had worked at Moderne Glass at one time.

An accomplished musician, he loved playing guitar and teaching others to play, especially his friend, Amy Hissom Daugherty. Those who knew him best would say he could fix anything – from household appliances to car engines. When he had a chance, he enjoyed fishing with his friend, Chuck; he also appreciated talking on his porch with good friends, Kenny and Annette. But he was happiest when surrounded by his family, particularly his granddaughter, Skylar.

He is survived by his daughter, Jamie Palmer and her husband, Bruce, of Calcutta; a granddaughter, Skylar Palmer; a sister, Sandra K. Potter of Henderson, Kentucky; and her beloved aunt, Norma Richards of Negley. There are many nieces, nephews and special cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ricky, Kevin and David Adkins.

Friends may visit Sunday at the Dawson Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 2 to 5 p.m. Evangelist Will Montgomery will conduct a funeral service Monday at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, after which time friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
