William H. Bourne, 87

SALEM – William H. Bourne, 87, of Midway Lane in East Liverpool, died at 2:45 a.m. Sunday, August 14, 2016, at Essex #1 of Salem, following a brief illness.

Born February 26, 1929, in East Liverpool, a son of the late Sylvia and Joseph Bourne, he was a lifetime area resident. He was a 1949 graduate of East Liverpool High School and a member of the former Calvary Methodist Church.

Bill served with the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean War. A decorated veteran, he was a recipient of two Purple Hearts, the Silver Star, and the Bronze Star.

He retired from the former Crucible Steel Co., where he had been an assistant roller. A member of the Disabled American Veterans at one time, he also belonged to TARC (Triangle Amateur Radio Club).

Bill was preceded in death on October 11, 2010 by his wife, Helen Belle Moore Bourne, whom he married October 18, 1950.

Surviving are three sons: Michael W. Bourne and his wife, Sarah, of East Liverpool; Thomas G. Bourne of Conneaut, Ohio; and Daniel R. Bourne and his wife, Marilyn, of East Liverpool. There are ten grandchildren: Dee Bourne-Elliot, Dan Bourne, Bill Bourne, Angel Bourne, Brandy Bourne-Bess, Tawnya Bourne-Rankin, Jenny Bourne-Douglass, Jamin Bourne, Melissa McCauley, and Joe Molnar, along with 21 great-grandchildren. A brother, Robert Bourne and his wife, June, of East Liverpool, survive as well.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Freda Ice.

Services are planned for 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Dawson Funeral Home, with Evangelist Will Montgomery officiating.

Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Burial is to be in Riverview Cemetery, where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will provide full military honors.
