CHARLES W. “CHUCK” STURTZ, 84
EAST LIVERPOOL – At 7:16 a.m. on Wednesday morning, September 28, 2016, Charles W. “Chuck” Sturtz passed away at the age of 84 at East Liverpool City Hospital.
He was a son of the late William and Ruth Gilmore Sturtz, born February 26, 1932 in Cumberland, Maryland.
Chuck was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #374.
He also belonged to the Smiths Ferry United Methodist Church, where he had been Chairman of the Board at one time.
Chuck had moved to East Liverpool in 1976 from Youngstown, where he had worked for Borden Dairy for many years. In this area, he was associated with B.O.C. in Newell, retiring in 1997.
His wife, Jean Childs Sturtz, survives him at home. They were married October 31, 1977.
Also surviving is a daughter, Kathy Costello, and her companion Terry Fletcher, of Boardman, and a son, Dave Sturtz and his wife, Sherry, of Youngstown. There are two stepdaughters, Linda Ronshak and her husband, Ron, of Westlake, LA, and Janet Guillory and her husband, Michael, of Lake Charles, LA.
Chuck also leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Jen (Alex), Jamie, Alex, Hailey, Krista (Keith), Kara, Melissa, Megan (Michael), Jason, Kasha, and Kennon, as well as twelve great-grandchildren: Erika, Paige, Drew, Drayke, Brittney, Kiarra, Jordan, Makayla, Dylan, Makenzie, Jared and Vaughn.
Additional survivors include two sisters, Helen Sturtz and Mary Stratford (Dudley), and three brothers, Rich Sturtz (Carol), Bob Sturtz (Pat) and Raymond Sturtz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death on February 22, 2010, by a stepson, Earl Joseph “Joe” McDevitt. He was also preceded by four sisters, Wanda, Dorothy, Betty and Jane, and four brothers, Dale, Joe, Paul and Jim.
Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Monday, where the family will be present from 3 to 8 p.m.
Rev. Chuck Adkins of the church will conduct services at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will provide full military honors. After which family and friends will gather for a time of fellowship at the Dawson Family Center.
Chuck will be laid to rest at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
