Obituary for Lois M Green (Kinsey)

LOIS M. GREEN, 89

EAST LIVERPOOL – Lois M. Green entered the gates of Heaven at the age of 89 on Sunday afternoon, October 9, 2016. A lifelong resident of East Liverpool, she died at her home in the presence of her family, who had cared for her during her five-month illness.

Born in East Liverpool on March 9, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Wayne and Mildred Beardmore Kinsey. She attended East Liverpool High School, and married her husband, William “Bill” Green in 1946.

Lois had been employed at Harker China, TS&T and also Homer Laughlin China at one time, but had first and foremost been a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Her church family at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church was very important to her as well, and she had been a member for well over 65 years. She loved greeting people at the door with a bulletin and a hug, and she was often seen at various functions at the church, rarely missing the chance to help with a special dinner. Her quick wit and keen sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.

When her kids were small, she was very involved in all their activities, whether it was Blue Birds, Campfire Girls or Cub Scouts. In her later years, she took great delight in following her grandchildren’s sporting events. An avid Pirate fan, she enjoyed traveling across the U.S. and beyond, and especially loved taking day trips with her family.

Lois is survived by her children: daughters Marilyn Green, Sue House and her husband, Randy; and Nancy Hughes and her husband, Wayne, all of East Liverpool; and sons William “Bill” Green and his wife, Lahn, of Orange, CA; Arl Green; Gary Green and his wife, Jennell; and George Green and his companion, Darlene Kinsey, all of East Liverpool.

There are 15 beloved grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, along with a sister, Marge Kinsey of Corona, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Lois was preceded in death by three brothers: Merle “Peck” Kinsey, John Kinsey and Harold “Curly” Kinsey.

Friends may visit with the family at the Dawson Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friends may also visit at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday.

Rev. Tanta Luckhardt-Hendricks, former pastor of the church, will officiate at a funeral service at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Lois will be buried next to her husband at Locust Hill Cemetery, followed by a continued time of fellowship and lunch at the church.

Those wishing to do so may send contributions c/o Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, 767 Park Boulevard, East Liverpool, Ohio 43920 to benefit the Food Bank.
