Obituary for Juanita C Wood (Cunningham)

JUANITA C. WOOD, 77

EAST LIVERPOOL – Juanita C. Wood passed away peacefully at her home on Sprucevale Road in East Liverpool on Sunday morning, October 16, 2016. She was 77.

She had lived her entire life in this area, born here on June 10, 1939 as the daughter of the late James F. and Cora Mae Wright Cunningham.

She was a graduate of East Liverpool High School and had worked in several area potteries, primarily in the Reclaim Department at Hall China Company. Juanita belonged to the American Legion Post #374 Ladies Auxiliary, and enjoyed reading and socializing with friends and her grandchildren.

A member of the United Brethren in Christ Church, she was a woman of great faith. She had served on the church board for several years, and could also be found at virtually any church function, especially meals held at the Dream Center. She was deeply involved with the Awana program and took many of the kids under her wing, assisting with a meeting as recently as last week.

Preceding her in death on June 3, 1992 was her husband, Ralph W. Wood, Sr. Together, they enjoyed travelling across the country, and were always up for a good adventure.

She is survived by her son, Mark Robert Reese and his wife, Adella, of East Liverpool. Also surviving are her stepchildren: Vicki Lynn Gilchrist and her husband, Rodney, also of East Liverpool; Ralph W. “Rick” Wood, Jr. and his wife, Melissa, of North Carolina; and Kyle E. Wood and his wife, Julie, of Mansfield. There are ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.

In addition to her husband and her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.

Rev. Joe Cilone of the church will officiate at services to be held at the Dawson Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Juanita will be laid to rest at Spring Grove Cemetery, followed by a continued time of fellowship at the Dream Center at United Brethren Church.

Those wishing to do so may make memorial gifts in lieu of flowers to United Brethren in Christ Church, 528 Grandview Street, East Liverpool, Ohio 43920 for the building of the new sanctuary.
