Obituary for Michael A Carlson

Michael A. Carlson, 60

WELLSVILLE – Michael A. Carlson, of Wellsville, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2016. He was 60.

Born in East Liverpool, Ohio, October 30, 1956, he was the son of Margaret Patricia “Pat” Carlson of East Liverpool, and the late Harvey Andrew Carlson.

He attended Immaculate Conception School and later graduated from Wellsville High School. A Christian, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany. He had worked at the former Ferro Corporation in East Liverpool, Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, and Trinity Health Care System. Most recently, he was an engineer at the Alexandria VA Health Care System in Pineville, Louisiana.

Michael was an outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing but above everything in life he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Betty Riley Carlson of Wellsville, as well as two children, a daughter Christina Carlson of Wellsville and a son Michael A. Carlson and his wife, Sarah, of Columbus. He will be missed by his three beloved grandchildren: Alyssa Carlson, Brooklyn Carlson-Byrd and Violet Carlson.

There are three sisters, Yvonne Twyford of Wellsville, Patricia Plunkett and her husband, James, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Marion “Jingles” Forney and her husband, Jerry, of East Liverpool.

Pastor Kim Gadd of the House of Prayer will conduct a funeral service Saturday, November 5, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit two hours prior to the service.

Burial will be at St. Elizabeth Cemetery where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will conduct military honors.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the House of Prayer where the church will provide a meal.
