Judith A. “Judie” Ruble, 82

EAST LIVERPOOL – Judith A. “Judie” Ruble, of Cherry Lane, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley Beaver. She was 82.

Born in Bellaire, Ohio, December 24, 1933, she was a daughter of the late James E. and Florence Pearl Ellis Porter. She was a graduate of Shadyside High School and later worked as a secretary at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and then was an office manager at Grant Public Service District in Newell. A member of the Longs Run Presbyterian Church, she was in the Quilting Club, Homemakers and was awarded the church’s Woman of the Year.

A caring and loving person, Judie often volunteered her time to others, from local cancer fundraisers to lending a helping hand to those in need. She was lovingly called “JuJu” by her family and close friends, she loved to have fun, cheer for the Steelers and play along with Jeopardy on TV.

Above all things in life, she was a loyal and loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She is survived by her husband, John J. Ruble, at home. The couple married October 7, 1978. She is also survived by two daughters, Debbie Downard and her husband, Ron, of Elkton, and Susan McDowell and her husband, Richard, of Plano, Texas, and two sons, Jon Davis and his wife, Jackie, of Temperance, Michigan, and Robert Davis and his wife, Kelly, of Elkton.

She will also be missed by her 11 grandchildren: Dian Watson, Erin Downard, Josh Downard, Caitlin Herrick, Carly McDowell, Lindsey Francis, Allison Davis, Amelia Davis, Jamie Davis, Jackie Davis and Justin Davis; as well as her five great-grandchildren: Ellee Downard, Wyatt Downard, Eli Francis, Ava Francis and Ashton VanVorhis.

She also leaves behind a sister, Phyllis Bell of Shadyside, and two brothers, James Porter and his wife, Sue, of Wheeling, and Richard Porter and his wife, Barbara, of Shadyside, along with many nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit Friday evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 4 to 7 p.m. Rev. Dr. Stephen Cramer of the church will conduct a funeral service Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
