Obituary for Rhonda Lynn Bednarek (Kerr)

Rhonda Lynn Bednarek, of St. George Street in East Liverpool, passed away following a valiant battle with cancer, and is now walking the Heavenly shores with the sunshine on her face. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her death at 3:28 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at The Orchards of East Liverpool. She was 66.

Rhonda was born on May 14, 1950 in Steubenville, a daughter of the late Kenneth C. Kerr and Elizabeth Walton Kerr Brannon, but she was raised by her adoptive parents, Herman and Olive Walton, who also preceded her in death.

She was a 1968 graduate of Brilliant High School, and earned her Associates degree at the Ohio Valley Business College. For over 30 years, she worked in various departments at East Liverpool City Hospital, primarily in the Billing Department and Medical Records, retiring in February of this year.

An active member of Destiny House, Rhonda lived her faith in the many ways she cared for others, especially volunteering with the Kingdom’s Cupboard food bank and other social events.
She loved life – and she loved people. Her family was her everything, but she also cherished the bond she shared with her group of longtime friends, “The Golden Girls”. Together, they enjoyed cruising and visiting the beach. Rhonda also liked to shop, and belonged to the Red Hats Society at one time, as well as T.O.P.S. #1390. She will be greatly missed by her dog, Jack, who was always at her side.

Rhonda leaves behind her family: sons, Shaun Bednarek and his wife, Dawne, of East Liverpool, and Todd Bednarek and his wife, Mandy, also of East Liverpool, as well as her beloved grandchildren Christlynne, Kailin, Chelsye, Ashlynn and Bryson. Also surviving is her loving sister, Gail Crowell and her husband, Dean, of Pearland, TX, and her brother, John Walton of McKinney, TX, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with the family at the Dawson Funeral Home from noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Pastor Bob Kidd, Chaplain at East Liverpool City Hospital, will conduct services at the funeral home Saturday at 6 p.m. He will be assisted by Chaplaincy Associate, Kathy Barker.

Immediately following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for a meal and a continued time of fellowship and remembrance.
