Obituary for Richard Paul Meredith

RICHARD P. MEREDITH, 84

LISBON – Richard P. Meredith, 84, of Lisbon, passed away suddenly on Sunday morning, December 25, 2016.

He was a son of the late Carl and Pearl Crabtree Garn, born in Newell, WV on January 29, 1932.

A U.S. Air Force veteran, he served his country in Alaska and in Korea during the Korean War.

He and his wife, Estella “Sis” Shamp Meredith, were married on December 27, 1958. They made their home in this area and raised their family with pride. Dick had an appreciation for the outdoors and raising dahlias, and always maintained a large vegetable garden. “Sis” survives him.

He had retired from Newell Specialty Chemical in 1994.

In addition to his wife, Dick leaves behind his children: Lynda Dickson (Dan), of Lisbon; Keith Meredith (Heidi), also of Lisbon; and Scott Meredith (Cheryl) of Mason, OH. Another son, Richard W. Meredith, preceded him in death.

He cherished his grandchildren: Eric Dickson of Asheville, NC, Danielle Lariccia (Joel) of Niles, and Emily Meredith, Claire Meredith and Laurel Meredith, all of Lisbon.

Also surviving are his siblings: Fred Garn of Youngstown, Earl Garn (Dorothy) of Lisbon, Ellen Garvey of East Liverpool, and Ila Pohl (Dennis) of Fredericksburg, VA, along with beloved family and friends. Preceding him in death was a sister, Bertha Bragg, and two brothers, Clark Garn and George Garn.

Friends may visit with the family at the Dawson Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Pastor Willard “Chuck” Adkins of First Church of Christ Disciples will conduct a funeral service Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Dick will be laid to rest at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
