ALICE C. SCOTT, 82

CALCUTTA – Alice C. Scott passed away at Good Samaritan Hospice in Beaver on Tuesday afternoon, January 10, 2017, with her loyal husband, Charlie, at her side. Alice, of Longs Church Road in Calcutta, was 82.

She was born in Bridgewater, Pennsylvania on October 3, 1934, and had spent most of her earlier life in the Western Pennsylvania area. She was a daughter of the late Frank and Lillie Luke. For many years, she had been a screen printer and seamstress at Strayers Coin Bag in New Brighton.

It was through her love of square dancing that she met her husband, Charles L. “Charlie” Scott, who survives her at home. The two also enjoyed blue grass music and just being at home together. Alice had no children of her own, but deeply loved and was loved by her nieces and nephews and many other children who considered her a mother, confidante and friend.

Alice attended Longs Run Presbyterian Church.

In addition to Charlie, she is survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews as well as a brother-in-law, Sidney Ewing.

She was preceded in death by three sisters: Elma Elliott, Jenny Fox and Helen Ewing and five brothers: Charles “Bob”, George, William “Bill”, Fred and Raymond Luke.

Alice’s family will receive friends at the Dawson Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Rev. Dr. Stephen Cramer of the church and family friend Pastor Don MacNeil officiating.

Alice will be laid to rest at Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Following the burial, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for a continued time of fellowship.
