Obituary for Betty D Rolley (Kinney)

BETTY D. ROLLEY, 89

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Former Bradshaw Avenue resident Betty D. Rolley passed away at the age of 89 on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the Cartersville Heights Nursing Home in Georgia. Betty, who spent nearly her entire life in East Liverpool, had relocated to the Cartersville area in 2013 to be closer to family there.

A daughter of the late Albert J. and Gladys C. Shively Kinney, Betty was born July 6, 1927 in East Liverpool. She was a 1945 graduate of East Liverpool High School.

On May 28, 1948, she married Robert J. “Bob” Rolley, and they became the parents of two sons, Mike and Tom. They enjoyed travelling together – especially any place warm. Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was actively involved in several ladies circles.

As a young woman, she worked at the former City Market, and was later associated for many years with Ogilvie’s Department Store downtown, primarily in the Children’s Department, until her retirement, which was due in part to her husband’s illness. Betty was a caring, selfless woman who put everyone else’s needs before her own. Known for her keen sense of humor and ready smile, she was tactful, diplomatic, and friendly to everyone she met.

Bob preceded her in death on August 28, 1990.

Her sons survive: Michael D. Rolley and his wife, Barbara, of Austintown, and Thomas S. Rolley and his wife, Melissa, of Cartersville. There are four grandsons: Michael Rolley, Robert Rolley, James Rolley and his wife, Kim, and Zak Rolley and his wife, Becka. Betty also leaves behind six great-grandchildren: Angela, Karina, Amanda, Julianna, Morgan and Matthew Rolley.

A sister, Jean Schiff, preceded her in death, as well as her beloved canine companions, Bailey and Ginger.

Betty will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery at a later date.

Betty’s family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Cartersville Heights Nursing Home for the care she received there.

Those wishing to do so may make contributions in Betty’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.

The Dawson Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements.
