Obituary for Thomas C Wolfe

THOMAS C. WOLFE, 81

EAST LIVERPOOL – Longtime area businessman Thomas C. Wolfe, 81, passed away at 8:24 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at East Liverpool City Hospital, where he had been taken earlier in the evening. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he and his family had owned and operated Wolfe TV for many years, and he was well known as “TV Tom” to his many friends.

He was born in East Liverpool, a son of the late Clinton Thomas Wolfe and Harry and Irena Zeigler Wolfe Early, on July 18, 1935. A 1953 graduate of East Liverpool High School, he furthered his education at the Woodward Electronics School in Detroit and began a long career in the television sales and repair business, retiring in 1998.

On June 7, 1957, he married the former Sharron Olson, and they were rarely apart. They raised their family here, and his first concern was always for others. He was a kind soul, and gave his smiles freely to everyone he met.

A lifetime member of the East Liverpool Elks Lodge #258, Tom also belonged to the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association, as well as several business associations. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, fishing, and camping with his kids, and in his later years, he loved golfing and spending winters with Sharron in Florida. A natural sports enthusiast, he believed in the importance of sportsmanship in youth, and sponsored Little League teams in the city for 20 years.

He was a member of First Free Methodist Church.

In addition to Sharron, he is survived by his daughter, Darla Moore and her husband, Michael, and by his son, Thomas C. Wolfe III and his wife, Tammy, all of East Liverpool. Tom was preceded in death on March 30, 2012, by his son, Michael W. Wolfe, Sr. and daughter-in-law, Karen E. Long Wolfe.

Tom was a proud and devoted grandfather to Michael Wolfe (Theresa), David Wolfe (Cheryl), Kristen Wolfe, Thomas Wolfe IV (Alana), Dylan Wolfe, Timothy Moore (Kendra) and Brandi Moore Adkins (Marco), and a great-grandfather to Logan Wolfe, Kylie Wolfe, Jacob Brown, Phoenix Wolfe, and Karli Thompson. A step-grandson, Stephen Moore, preceded him in death.

He is also survived by a sister, Karen Brereton and her husband, Charles, and a brother, Donald Wolfe and his wife, Bobby, all of East Liverpool, along with a sister-in-law, June Wolfe, and numerous nieces and nephews. A brother, Joseph Wolfe, preceded him in death.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Dawson Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. An Elks Service will take place at 7:30 p.m.

Rev. Steve Forsythe of the church will officiate at a funeral service to be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Tom will be laid to rest at Columbiana County Memorial Park, followed by a time of continued remembrance at the church’s fellowship hall.
