Obituary for Peggy Ann Barr (Cunningham)

PEGGY ANN CUNNINGHAM BARR, 80

EAST LIVERPOOL – On Wednesday morning, March 1, 2017, Peggy Ann Cunningham Barr slipped peacefully into Heaven to be greeted by loved ones who were waiting for her there. She had been ill for a brief period and died at Calcutta Health Care Center with her family nearby.

Born on November 10, 1936 in Moundsville, WV, she was a daughter of the late John and Kathrine E. Wheeler Cunningham. She was raised in that area, where she had cared for her siblings at a young age and later became a devoted mother and homemaker.

Peggy relocated to East Liverpool in 2002 to be closer to her son and family here. She thoroughly loved being surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored. She also enjoyed the company of her cat, Pebbles, and she never grew tired of working jigsaw puzzles with her daughter-in-law every day.

Her husband, Jack, preceded her in death.

Surviving her are two sons, Lonnie Barr and his wife, Elizabeth, with whom she resided, and John Barr of Wadestown, WV. Peggy was also preceded in death by all three of her daughters: Bonnie A. Barr, Carrie E. Barr Lambert, and Alma L. Barr.

Also surviving are ten grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. A granddaughter, Cassandra Barr, preceded her in death, as well as five brothers, three sisters, and a daughter-in-law, Sue Barr.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Friday, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.

The family will also receive friends at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville, WV on Sunday, March 5 from noon to 2 p.m. A funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Peggy will then be laid to rest near beloved family members at Blacksville Cemetery in Spraggs, PA.
