Obituary for Jack B. Clutter

Lifetime East Liverpool resident Jack B. Clutter, 87, peacefully slipped into his eternal rest in the presence of his family while at Calcutta Health Care Center at 9:00 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2017. Jack, who lived most recently on Duncan Avenue in East Liverpool, had been in poor health since March.

He was a son of the late Purle and Florence Wolf Clutter, born October 10, 1929 in East Liverpool. He served his country with the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War Conflict. Upon his return to East Liverpool, he became a rigger in the finishing mill at the former Crucible Steel Corporation, until his retirement in 1982.

Jack had also faithfully served as a Liverpool Township volunteer fireman for many years.

A familiar face at the counter at L&B Donut Shop downtown, Jack also loved meeting his friends at the Broadway Wharf and spending carefree days there. He served on the River Regatta committee and also helped to organize the Farmers Market at the Wharf and at Thompson Park.

His wife, Margaret E. Webber Clutter, preceded him in death on July 1, 1982. They were married on February 20, 1955.

Surviving him are his three children: Russell J. “Rusty” Clutter, of East Liverpool; Cheryl Miller of Midland; and Kimberly Bahen and her husband, Paul, of East Liverpool.

Jack was a proud “pap” to Jeremy Bahen and his wife, Nicole; Jason Bahen; Scott Clutter and his wife, Amanda; Amber Clutter, Joshua Steele and Nikki Steele, as well as his great-grandchildren: Hunter and Jayce Clutter, Maddin and Ella Bahen, and another great-grandchild due in January.

He is also survived by his sisters, Jeanne Shreeve and Shirley Gallagher, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was a brother, Robert Clutter, and three sisters, Margaret Radeschi, Flora Mae Miller and Ruby Wright.

Visitation will be held on Monday at the Dawson Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Dr. Robert B. Sylvies of the First Church of the Nazarene will officiate at a service to be held at the funeral home at 12:00 noon on Tuesday. The Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will provide full military honors.

Jack will be laid to rest beside his wife at Spring Grove Cemetery.

Those wishing to do so may make monetary gifts in memory of Jack to the Liverpool Township Volunteer Firemen Association, 2360 Sherwood Avenue, East Liverpool, Ohio 43920.
