Obituary for Joseph P Cain Jr.

Joseph P. Cain, Jr., 70

BEAVER, PA – Joseph P. Cain, Jr. of Hookstown, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Heritage Valley Beaver following a lengthy illness. He was 70.

Born in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, February 1, 1947, he was a son of the late Joseph P. Cain, Sr. and Mary Ellen Rocca Cain. A member of the Hopewell High School Class of 1965, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served from 1966 to 1968.

Catholic by faith, he worked at J&L Steel Company, Penn Power and later retired from Homer Laughlin China Company. He was a member and past officer of the Hookstown American Legion and recently became a member of the Chester American Legion. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He is survived by his two sons, Joseph P. Cain, III and his wife, Melissa, of Hookstown and Michael Doychak and his wife, Holly, of Texas. There are two granddaughters: Sarah Cain and Isabella Cain. He also leaves his former wife and close friend, Mary Dawson Taylor and her husband, Kirk, of Carnegie.

Two sisters also survive, Cheryl Erdely and her husband, Tim, of Perryopolis, Pennsylvania and Bernadette Cain of California, Pennsylvania, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit Sunday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Rev. Jefferson Ellis of the Hanover Evangelical Presbyterian Church will conduct a funeral service Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Mill Creek Hill Cemetery where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will conduct military honors.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
