Obituary for Mary A. Powell (Palmer)

Mary A. Wagers Powell, 92

CALCUTTA – Mary A. Wagers Powell, passed away Thursday morning, November 2, 2017 at the Calcutta Health Care Center. She was 92.

Born in East Liverpool, September 1, 1925, she was a daughter of the late John and Filura Curtis Palmer. A resident of this area all of her life, she was active in the former 1st Baptist Church, and was presently a member of the Longs Run Presbyterian Church.

Mary had worked at the former A.J. Olsens and Hills Department Stores, and she was also a member of the Tri-Angle Seniors and the Salvation Army Seniors.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clint Wagers, on December 14, 1968. Mary’s second husband, Clarence W. Powell, Jr., passed away on August 31, 2000. She was also preceded in death by a son Ralph Wagers and a stepdaughter Debbie Duschl.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Patricia Rabon, and her husband Jim, of Georgetown, Texas, her two stepdaughters, Terri Jo Larkins, and her husband Joe, of Calcutta, and Janey Watt, and her husband Roy, of Wampum, Pennsylvania, and her two stepsons, Bill Powell, and his wife Linda, of Alliance, Ohio, and Reverend Stephen Powell, and his wife Marsha, of Madison, Ohio.

There are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

Reverend Stephen Powell will conduct a funeral service Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., as well as one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Following the service friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for a time of fellowship. Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
