Roger A. Edwards, Sr., 69

LISBON – Roger A. Edwards, Sr., of Lisbon, passed away suddenly Monday, May 21, 2018 at his home. He was 69.

Born in Salem, November 22, 1948, he was a son of the late Gerald Edwards and Eilene McDevitt Edwards Adams. A lifetime area resident, for 33 years he drove truck for the Hays Oil Company. Following his retirement, he enjoyed playing Santa Claus in the community.

He was a member of the Potters Club, Moose Lodge #122, the Orioles Club Nest #169, and APA #445. He was active in the Mahoning County Coon Hunters Club where he enjoyed attending the annual trade show and field trials. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening and puzzles, but above all things in life he loved his family.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Jane Fleming Edwards, at home. The couple married August 1, 1964. Together they raised four children: two daughters, Catherine Edwards Blankenship and her companion, James Gamble, of East Liverpool, and Candace Edwards Homan of East Liverpool, and two sons, Roger A. “Gunner” Edwards, Jr. and his wife, Pam, of Lisbon, and Daniel Scott “Pooh” Edwards, Sr. and his wife, Deborah, of Lisbon.

There are 10 grandchildren: Cassidie Edwards and her husband, Joseph, Jalisa Zarnosky, Daniel Edwards, Jr. and his wife, Ashlee, Caithlynne Godocsik, Alyvia Blankenship, Kylie Wendell, Caressa Rae Godocsik and Luke Beatty, Roger A. “Trae” Edwards III, Maecie Edwards and Reese Edwards; and 5 great-grandchildren: Maddiex, Draeven, Emmett, Remeigh and Elli. He will also be sadly missed by his dog Harlow.

There were six brothers and five sisters.

Friends may visit Friday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 3 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the American Legion Post 374 for fellowship.

Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in care of the Humane Society.
