Obituary for Sharon L. McNear (Scott)

Sharon L. McNear, 83, of Montana Ave. in East Liverpool, passed away with her family by her side at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the Orchards at Foxcrest in Chester, where she had resided recently.

Sharon was born in Wick, WV on October 15, 1930, a daughter of the late Harold and Elva Cox Scott. A member of the Wells High School Class of 1948, she was a homemaker and married her husband of 64 years, James C. “Elmo” McNear, on November 25, 1949.

Sharon was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was active in the United Methodist Women, the Susanna Wesley Circle, the Rebekah Joy Circle, as well as Sunday school. Sharon also loved spending time with her family and fishing with her husband.

Surviving her are three daughters: Sandy Bissell, and her husband Dennis, of Summitville, Nancy Williams, and her husband David, of Newell, and Jacqueline Barrett, and her husband Scott, of East Liverpool. There are five granddaughters: Brandy Fortman, and her husband Michael, Heidi Maltempi, and her husband Frank, Courtney Czarnecki, and her husband Jared, Calley Williams, and Kadie Van Fosson, and her husband Kyle. There is one step-grandson, Skyler Barrett. Sharon is also survived by six great-grandchildren and a very special sister-in-law, Eileen "Mick" Tice.

She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Merle Ward and Lavada Bell.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Thursday, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be held at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Friday, with Pastor Larry Hukill of the church officiating. Burial will take place at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens, immediately followed by a time of fellowship at the First United Methodist Church.
