Obituary for Alma E. Cunningham (Schneidmiller)

EAST LIVERPOOL – Alma E. Cunningham, of Glenmoor, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at the Vibra Hospital in Boardman following a one month illness. She was 91.

Born in Glenmoor, March 3, 1924, she was a daughter of the late John and Nettie Hetzel Schneidmiller. A lifelong area resident, she was baptized and married at St. John Lutheran Church and later became an active member of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church.

A homemaker, she also worked at one time as a secretary to the superintendent of the East Liverpool City School District. She later worked as a classroom aid at LaCroft Elementary.

Her husband, Robert R. “Bob” Cunningham, preceded her in death on January 27, 2014. The couple married February 20, 1946. She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Schneidmiller and Rev. John “Nube” Schneidmiller and two sisters, Annette Garvey and Eileen Tilton.

Left behind to cherish Alma’s memory are her four children: Rick Cunningham and his wife, Mary Jane, of Mansfield, Ohio; Dan Cunningham of East Liverpool; John Cunningham and his wife, Valerie, of Chester; and Barbara Green and her husband, Dennis, of Keller, Texas.

There are six grandchildren: Todd Cunningham of Marietta; Bo Cunningham and his wife, Rae Jeanne, of Hilliard, Ohio; Danielle Woods and her husband, Nick, of McMinnville, Oregon; Nanette Green, of North Richland Hills, Texas; and Dennis Green, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; and Rick Cunningham and his wife, Jessica, of Edmond, Oklahoma. Five great-grandchildren also survive: Isaac Cunningham of Marietta, Braden and Hallie Woods of McMinville, Oregon; and Catherine and Robert Cunningham of Hilliard, Ohio.

She is also survived by a sister, Helen Hall of Columbus.

Friends may visit Wednesday evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 4 to 7 p.m. Rev. Trina Lewis and Rev. Tom Schneidmiller will conduct a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. Friends may also visit one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Following the service, family and friends will return to the church fellowship hall for a luncheon.
