PAUL J. LOGSTON, 80

NEW CUMBERLAND – Former New Cumberland resident Paul J. Logston passed away at Lifeline Hospital in Wintersville Tuesday morning, February 9, 2016, following a lingering illness. He was 80.

A son of the late Homer Logston and Rosetta Ash Logston Bebout, he was born at home in Newell on August 21, 1935. Paul was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Nettie and Royal Ash, who raised him.

He was retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways. In his spare time, he loved working in the yard – especially from the vantage point of his tractor – and was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Surviving him are three daughters: Vickie Hoyt of East Liverpool, Lori Logston of Chester, and Amy McLaren and her husband, Dave, of Peachtree City, Ga, along with their mother, Roberta Minor. There are eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Additional survivors include a sister, Lina Collins and her husband, Cecil of Wellsville; a brother, Larry Logston and his wife, Myrna, of Chester; three half-brothers, and six half-sisters.

In addition to his parents and grandparents, Paul was preceded in death by a special companion, Cathy Sobel, as well as a brother, Glen Logston.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home, with Rev. Willard Chuck Adkins of First Church of Christ (Disciples) officiating.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Paul will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery, after which time the family and friends will return to the Dawson Family Center for a continued time of fellowship.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a Humane Society of your choice, or to Brooke Place, 3305 Tent Church Rd, Colliers, WV 26035.

The family wishes to thank the staffs at Stone Pear Pavilion, the Fifth Floor at the Weirton Medical Center, and Lifeline Hospital in Wintersville for their kindness and compassionate care.
