Obituary for Dale L Frederick

Montana Avenue resident Dale L. Frederick passed away at the age of 85 on Friday evening, March 11, 2016, at East Liverpool City Hospital. A son of the late Robert and Elsie Wilton Frederick, he was born on May 28, 1930 in East Liverpool, and remained here the rest of his life.

Dale served with the U.S. Army, and then began work at the former Fran’s Bakery in the city’s East End. Primarily, he had worked as a millwright in the cold roll department at Crucible Steel, retiring in 1982. Many would remember him as a familiar face at the downtown Giant Eagle, where he worked following his retirement.

A longtime and active member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Dale was an avid bowler and loved sports – especially fishing, and anything involving the East Liverpool Potters.

Surviving him is his wife, Patricia Frederick of East Liverpool, along with a daughter, Debra D. Sanford of East Liverpool, and two sons, Kevin C. Frederick, also of East Liverpool, and Ryan Frederick, of Defiance, Ohio. Another son, Dale L. Frederick, Jr., preceded him in death in 1992. Dale also leaves behind seven grandchildren.

A sister, Carolyn Linger and her husband, Ray, survives as well as three brothers: Robert Frederick, William Frederick and Thomas Frederick, and his wife, Carol. He was preceded in death by another brother, John “Clifford” Frederick, and by a sister, Alice Mae Crabtree.

Friends may visit with the family at the Dawson Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Services will be held at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will provide full military honors.
