Obituary for James F Furman

EAST LIVERPOOL – James F. “Jim” Furman, of Ohio Avenue, passed away Saturday morning, April 2, 2016 at the East Liverpool City Hospital. He was 68.

Born in East Liverpool, June 3, 1947, he was a son of the late Joseph and Ruth Furman. He was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1965 and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. For 28 years, Jim worked at the former Crook’s Furniture Store in East Liverpool.

He was a life member and past commander of the American Legion Post 374.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn “Sue” Furman, at home. The couple married August 20, 1971. He also leaves behind his two sons, James J. “J.J.” Furman and his wife, Amy, and Eric Furman and his wife, Traci, all of East Liverpool. He will also be sadly missed by his two granddaughters, Karlee and Ally Furman.

Friends may visit Monday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Chaplain Robert C. Kidd, Jr. will conduct a funeral service Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park where the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will conduct military honors.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.

Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in care of American Legion Post 374, 1824 Park Way, East Liverpool, Ohio.
