Fred Taubert, 92

EAST LIVERPOOL – Fred Taubert, of East Liverpool, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. He was 92.

Born in East Liverpool, May 16, 1925, he was a son of the late Emil and Freida Mader Taubert. A longtime resident of East Liverpool, for many years he lived in Florida and still spent time there. For many years, he worked at Parson’s Coal Company as a barge pumper and loaded tanker trucks. He also worked as a truck driver at Georgeddy River Rail in Wellsville and worked at Brown Brothers in Midland as well.

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, boating and planting trees. He stayed active and would often go for walks with his brother at Beaver Creek State Park.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Cochran Taubert, at home. The couple married September 13, 1962. There are six children: Shirley Jones (Ralph) of Lisbon, Linda Manley (Ron) of Michigan, Fred Emil Taubert (Bonnie) of Kentucky, Gary Taubert of Michigan, Kurt Taubert (Jolene) of Michigan and Freda Taubert Kaiser (Joe Price) of East Liverpool.

He also leaves 15 grandchildren, including two close grandsons Clinton Taubert and Ricky Kaiser (Nicole); 14 great-grandchildren, including a special great-granddaughter Ava Isabella Kaiser.

His sister survives, Mildred “Midge” Little of East Liverpool, a brother, Ralph Taubert of East Liverpool and a brother-in-law and close friend, Joseph Cochran of Florida.

He was preceded in death by a brother Heinz Taubert.

Friends may visit Monday evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Rev. Norman Eckert will conduct a funeral service Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Calcutta Cemetery.
