EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Alvin M. Palmer, Sr., 90, of East Liverpool passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 surrounded by his family at his home.
Alvin was born in Hammondsville, Ohio on December 13, 1931 a son of the late Crawford L. and Ora A. (Wiley) Palmer. He attended Salineville High School. Alvin worked at standard slag as a shovel operator then later went to work in maintenance operations at Ohio Edison, now known as First Energy, until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of the Calcutta United Presbyterian Church. He loved going fishing, listening to country music and going to antique car shows. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Preceding Alvin in death were his wife of 63 years Della Louise (Ruckman) Palmer; three sisters Alice Brown, Audrey West and Anna Virginia Palmer and three brothers Arthur, Alfred and Archie Palmer.
Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters Patricia Palmer and Yvonna Palmer both of East Liverpool; three sons Alvin Palmer, Jr. and his wife Kathy, Bruce Palmer and his wife Jamie and Kevin Palmer all of East Liverpool; three grandchildren Michael Palmer I whom he helped raise, Skylar Palmer and Mackenzie Palmer; four great grandchildren Emma Palmer, Jordan Palmer, Karly Palmer and Michael Anthony Palmer II; brother Arlie Palmer and his wife Jan of Pittsburgh, PA and sister-in-law Patricia Kitty Palmer of Vermillion, OH.
Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Sunday where the family will be present from 2 to 7 p.m. Evangelist Rico Brown will conduct a service at the Funeral Home on Sunday at 7 p.m. Burial at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
